Ingredients
| oil | 2 Tbsps | |
| onion | 1 | chopped |
| garlic clove | 4 | chopped |
| carrot | 2 | chopped |
| ham bone | 1 lb | |
| split pea | 2 cups | |
| water | 16 cups | enough to cover |
| salt | 1 Tbsp | |
| pepper | 1 1/2 tsps |
Directions
- In a large stock pot heat the oil over medium heat.
- Add the onion, garlic, and carrot. Cook until the onions are translucent.
- Add the ham bone, split peas, and enough water to cover all the ingredients.
- Add the salt and pepper.
- Bring to a boil and lower to a simmer. Cook for 2 hours or until the split peas have almost disapeared.
