Preparation

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Combine the oysters and water and place in the refrigerator.
  2. In a bowl combine the cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, paprika, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  3. In a large saucepan melt the butter over medium heat. Add the yellow onion, celery, and bell pepper. Sauté until the onions are translucent.
  4. Stir in the spice mixture and add the garlic. Sauté for an additional minute.
  5. Increase the heat to high and strain the liquid from the oysters into the saucepan and add the bay leaves. Mix well and bring to a simmer.
  6. Remove from the heat and stir in the bread stuffing. Coat all the bread well with the liquid in the saucepan.
  7. Cut the oysters in half and mix into the stuffing. Pour into a casserole dish.
  8. Place the casserole dish into the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the bay leaves and serve.
