Caramel Apples Recipe. Creative fun for the entire family. This is a family oriented recipe that starts with the unwrapping of caramel candies and ends with deciding what kind of topping to coat the apples.

Ingredients

caramel 2 1/2 lbs
milk 3 Tbsps
skewers 12
Granny Smith apple 12
nut topping 1 lb
candy 1 lb optional
butter 1 Tbsp

Directions

  1. Remove the stems and wash the apples. Dry thoroughly.
  2. Insert a skewer in the base of the apple where the stem was located. Place the apples at the beginning of your assembly line.
  3. Place the nut topping in a bowl that is large enough that it will allow you to evenly coat your caramel apple. Place in your assembly line.
  4. Place the candy topping in a bowl that is large enough that it will allow you to evenly coat your caramel apple. Place in your assembly line.
  5. If you have individually wrapped caramel candies unwrap them carefully and place them in a microwaveable bowl.
  6. Spoon in the milk and microwave for 2 minutes. Remove the bowl, stir the caramel, and if needed microwave for an additional 30 seconds until the caramel is completely melted. Repeat if necessary.
  7. Butter a baking sheet and set at the end of the assembly line.
  8. Carefully dip an apple in the caramel making sure to coat the entire apple. Raise the apple so that the excess caramel can drip off the apple. You may want to use a butter knife to get rid of the excess caramel. Carefully dip in the nut or candy topping and place in the buttered sheet pan. Allow to sit for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Make sure not to stick your finger into the hot caramel it will burn. Use extreme caution when dipping your apples.
